"I was standing in a courtroom with my family. We had a very good attorney who was neatly dressed in an expensive suit, and he was presenting our case before the judge. The case we were pleading was why our family should NOT adopt again. All of our family and friends had gathered behind us on our side of the courtroom, and as our attorney systematically went through his list for us to NOT adopt again, our family and friends all shook their heads in agreement.
After our attorney finished pleading in our defense, the judge paused and then looked to the other side of the courtroom. There stood a small child. He had no attorney or advocate to speak on his defense. He had no family or friends to support him. His side of the courtroom was completely empty. The judge asked, “Dear child, what is it that you would like to say?” The child hesitated, and then simply said, “I just want to have a family.”"
